The results of the First Choice Employer survey confirm that candidates today increasingly value employers where they can grow, learn, and develop their careers in the long term.
For years, the ICT sector has been known as one of the most desirable fields for career development in Croatia, and the reason is not hard to find. With average salaries approaching the 2,000 EUR mark, professions in this sector continue to hold a special place in the labor market.
However, the salary amount is only one part of the story.
For many professionals, who stands behind the job is equally important. In
other words, the question is not just where one can earn well in the ICT
sector, but which employers people actually want to build their careers with.
This exact question has been answered for two decades by the First Choice
Employer survey, conducted by Alma Career Croatia, an international company
best known for its MojPosao brand. Company names are not pre-listed in the survey;
instead, respondents enter them voluntarily. More than 27,000 respondents
participated in the survey conducted during 2025.
Infobip Still on the Throne
According to the research, the first-choice employers in Croatia within the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry are:
Infobip, Google Croatia, and Hrvatski Telekom.

Infobip carries the title of the most desirable employer in ICT again this year. With this, the company has maintained its number one spot on the rankings, confirming a continuity of good standing among IT professionals and candidates looking to build a career in the tech sector.
Google Croatia climbed to second place this year, having held the third position last year, while third place went to Hrvatski Telekom, which advanced from last year's fourth position. A1 Croatia is this year's fourth most desirable employer in the ICT industry, after ranking second last year.
There are also changes further down the ladder. Telemach and Span swapped places compared to last year's rankings, and for the first time, the company 404 found itself among the top ten most desirable employers in the ICT industry.
Professional Advancement is Highly Valued
To uncover what sets the most desirable employers in Croatia apart from the competition, respondents selected up to three factors that, in their opinion, most influence an employer's attractiveness.
The results confirm that candidates increasingly value work environments where they can learn, advance, and develop their competencies over the long term. The opportunity for professional advancement proved to be the most important characteristic of a desirable employer in ICT, highlighted by 55% of respondents. This is followed by good interpersonal relationships (cited by 41%) and good treatment of employees (selected by 35%).

Among other important factors, respondents additionally highlighted a company's good reputation and work-life balance.
Working for a First-Choice Employer Reduces the Desire to Leave
Employee loyalty remains one of the major challenges in the labor market.
Among respondents whose first-choice employer is specifically from the ICT sector, 50% frequently think about changing jobs—which is slightly higher than the overall sample, where 49% frequently think about leaving. Another 37% of respondents in this group think about changing jobs occasionally, while 12% state that they are satisfied with their current employer and do not think about leaving.

However, the picture changes significantly when looking at employees who already work for their first-choice employer. In this group, loyalty is much more pronounced: nearly half of the respondents (44%) do not think about changing jobs at all, while only 12% say they think about it frequently.
The Most Sought-After Benefits Combine Freedom, Reward, and Growth
When it comes to the benefits employees desire most, flexible working hours, bonuses for exceptional achievements, and investment in education sit at the top. This represents a combination of perks that offer employees greater control over their workday, recognition for achieved results, and room for further professional growth.
Additional vacation days, paid health services outside the basic package, and a clear and balanced overtime policy also ranked highly.
On the other hand, benefits like company-organized weekend socialization, referral bonuses, and subsidized cultural or sports activities sit at the bottom of the priority list.
About the Survey: The First Choice Employer survey was conducted by Alma Career Croatia via the MojPosao portal during 2025, using a sample of over 27,000 respondents. It is conducted annually, now for the 21st consecutive year.
It is important to emphasize that the survey is based exclusively on the respondents' perception and their free choice—company names were not provided beforehand. Respondents were asked to list three first-choice employers, where the first choice carried three points, the second choice two, and the third choice one point. The final ranking was formed based on the total number of points.
The goal of the research is to identify which companies on the Croatian labor market are the most attractive to the general public and to recognize those that have made the greatest progress over the past year.
